Plus Points Terms and Conditions

  1. The Program
    The Plus Points Program (“the Program”) allows eligible Emirates Bank Credit Cardholders (“Cardholder/s”) to accumulate points (“Plus Points”) from spending on their Generic Emirates Bank VISA and/or MasterCard Credit Card (“Emirates Bank Card/s”). The cards eligible for Plus Points earning will be as determined by the bank from time to time.
     
  2. Eligibility
    2.1 The following is the list of Emirates Bank Cards which are currently eligible to earn Plus Points:
    - Emirates Bank VISA Infinite Credit Card
    - Emirates Bank VISA Platinum Credit Card
    - Emirates Bank MasterCard / VISA Gold Credit Card
    - Emirates Bank MasterCard / VISA Silver Credit Card
    - Emirates Bank DIC Credit Card

    Exclusions: i) Cards issued as Corporate Cards ii) Cards issued under promotions which exclude rewards earning.
    The Bank has the right to include / exclude any card into / from Plus Points at any time with/without prior notice to the Cardholder.

    2.2 In order to benefit from Plus Points, the Emirates Bank Card must be valid and in good standing as per the criteria and standards applied by the Bank from time to time. The Cardholder’s acceptance of the terms and conditions outlined hereinafter shall be deemed satisfied upon redemption of his/her Plus Points.

    2.3 The Points earned by the Supplementary Cardholder will accrue to the account of the Primary Cardholder.
     
  3. Enrollment
    3.1 Participation in the Program is automatic and free on subscribing to the Emirates Bank Card.

    3.2 Enrollment Date shall mean the Card Account set up date by the bank for new Cardholders and for existing cardholders, the date the program commences, as decided and communicated by the bank.

    3.3 Enrollment Year shall mean the year of the Enrollment Date.
     
  4. Points
    4.1 Plus Points will be awarded from the date the card is activated whenever the Emirates Bank Card is used for all domestic and international retail spends.

    4.2 Plus Points awarded to the Cardholder will be shown in the Cardholder’s monthly statement, and will be redeemable in such manner as set out in the Plus Points brochure, which will be dispatched to the Cardholder upon his/her request.

    4.3 Cardholders cannot accrue Plus Points for any transactions on the Emirates Bank Card prior to his/her Enrollment Date.

    4.4 The rate of earning Plus Points is as defined in the Plus Points Brochure and/ or updated on the website and/ or communicated from time to time. The Bank reserves the right, to be exercised at any time and without any prior notice to the Cardholder, to change the ratio between (a) Plus Point to be awarded; and (b) the specified amount charged to the Cardholder’s Emirates Bank Card.

    4.5 All transactions charged to a Cardholder’s Emirates Bank Cards are eligible for Plus Points except for the following: a) Annual fee of the Cardholder’s Emirates Bank Cards; b) Cash Advances; c) Finance charges; d) Late payment charges; e) traveler’s cheques, balance transfer and other unauthorized charges, etc; f) foreign currency purchases g) Credit Shield / any other insurance programs or products that the Bank may choose to offer; or h) Transactions that the Bank decides are disputed, erroneous, unauthorized, illegal and/or fraudulent(i) Dial a Cheque and Installment Plan facilities offered by the Bank.

    4.6 The Bank may, at its sole discretion and without prior notice to the Cardholder, add to, or remove from, the above list of eligible charges and transactions. The Bank’s decision as to what constitutes an eligible charge shall be final and conclusive. The Bank may also apply caps and/or reduced Plus Points to certain categories of spending, i.e. Utility Bill Payment etc.

    4.7 The following earning caps will apply on Plus Points earning in each month: Silver/ DIC/ Gold Cards- 1,000 Plus Points, Platinum Card - 2,000 Plus Points and Infinite Card – 3,000 Plus Points. The Bank has the right to modify these caps at any point in time with / without prior notice to the Cardholder.

    4.8 Plus Points will stop accruing if the Cardholder fails to pay the Minimum Amount Due on the Card Account on 2 consecutive Payment Due Dates.

    4.9 In the event the Card is voluntarily closed by the Cardholder, Plus Points accumulated on his/her Card have to be redeemed within 30 days of card closure otherwise these will automatically lapse. In the event the Card is cancelled by the Bank for any other reason, all the Plus Points accumulated will stand forfeited. If the Card is blocked or suspended by the Bank for any reason whatsoever, then the Plus Points accumulated shall stand forfeited but may be reinstated at the discretion of the Bank if use of the Card is reinstated.

    4.10 Adjustments will be made to the Plus Points balance if there are any credits, including those arising from returned goods or services or billing disputes. If a disputed transaction is resolved in favour of the Cardholder or where a transaction is reversed, proportionate Plus Points will also be reversed and credited/ debited to the Cardholder. On redemption, Plus Points would automatically be subtracted from the Points accumulated in the Cardholder’s account.

    4.11 The Bank’s decision on computation of Plus Points will be final, conclusive and binding on the Cardholder.
     
  5. Redemption
    5.1 The Cardholder can only redeem those Plus Points registered and credited to the Emirates Bank Card Account of the Cardholder at the time of making the redemption. The books and records of the Bank shall be conclusive evidence in respect of the number of Plus Points registered and credited to the Cardholder’s Emirates Bank Card Account.

    5.2 In addition to any other conditions outlined in these terms and conditions, Plus Points accumulated under the Cardholder’s Emirates Bank Cards Account(s) will be cancelled if the Cardholder’s Emirates Bank Card a) is closed; b) is not in good standing in the opinion of the Bank; c) has expired; d) has breached the Bank’s and/ or VISA or MasterCard Agreement; e) any other event which, in the sole discretion of the Bank, should result in the cancellation of Plus Points.

    5.3 Plus Points redemption will not be allowed if the Minimum Amount Due on the Card Account has not been cleared on the Payment Due Date for one statement cycle. The account will be reactivated only after the dues are cleared.

    5.4 Without prejudice to the foregoing, the Bank reserves its right to be exercised at any time without prior notice to the Cardholder, to apply time limitations on the validity of the Plus Points earned by the Cardholder and credited to the Cardholder’s Emirates Bank Card Account. Any unprocessed redemption order for Plus Points that have been cancelled, shall not be processed by the Bank despite the fact that such redemption order was received before the Cardholder’s relevant Plus Points cancellation.

    5.5 Any order placed for the redemption of Plus Points for any of the Rewards in the Plus Points Brochure is subject to the Bank’s approval, the availability of the Reward at the time of placing the redemption order by the Cardholder, as well as any restrictions applied by the suppliers of the Reward. The Bank may, without prior notice to the Cardholder withdraw or substitute any of the Rewards for another Reward of comparable value or nature. Redemption orders may be placed through the Plus Points Helpline as communicated from time to time or through BankNET.

    5.6 Plus Points can be redeemed for Frequent Flyer Partner Miles (hereinafter referred to as “FFP Miles”) with our partners, Gift Vouchers, Cash Back, Annual Fee Waiver and any other redemption option as defined by the Bank from time to time.

    5.7 A minimum of 500 Plus Points is required for Cash Back redemption and FFP Miles redemption.

    5.8 Plus Points can be transferred from a Visa card account to a MasterCard account and vice versa.

    5.9 Transfer of Plus Points to FFP miles can be requested only by the individual whom we identify as the Primary Cardholder. Plus Points can be transferred to FFP of any person by providing his FFP no. and name (e.g. supplementary cardholder, friend, relative, etc). Only one redemption request will be accepted per day per airline.

    5.10 There will be varying time lags for completing the process of transferring Plus Points to any of the FFP Miles of partner airlines.

    5.11 The minimum turn around time for processing redemption requests is as follows: FFP Miles- 2-4 weeks, Gift Vouchers – 5 working days (excluding time lag in delivering the vouchers to the Cardholder) and Cash Back/ Annual Fee Waiver – 5 working days. The Bank cannot be held responsible for any delays beyond the turn around time specified if such delays are caused due to circumstances beyond the Bank’s control. The Bank also has the right to change these time lags from time to time with or without prior notice to the Cardholder.

    5.12 Plus Points once converted to FFP Miles cannot be converted back to Plus Points. Flight rewards do not qualify for FFP Miles.

    5.13 Plus Points will be transferred to a FFP program at the prevailing rate as of redemption date. The conversion rate is subject to change and the Bank reserves the right to change conversion rates without prior notice or intimation to the Cardholder.

    5.14 The Bank shall only be responsible for forwarding the Cardholder’s order for Reward to the supplier of the Reward requested by the Cardholder. The Bank is not and shall not be considered at any time as the supplier of the Rewards available under the Plus Points Program.

    5.15 The Bank shall not be liable for any loss of profit, savings, contract, revenue, interest or goodwill or any consequential indirect, incidental, special or punitive loss, damage or expenses or loss of data sustained by the Cardholder as a result of redeeming Plus Points and/or possessing and/or using the redeemed Reward(s) nor shall the Bank be responsible or held liable for any amount payable by the Cardholder to any third party arising out of the purchase, supply, quality, installation, use or otherwise of Rewards, or of any negligence, breach of statutory or other duty on the part of the Bank and/or the supplier.

    5.16 The Bank gives no warranty whatsoever (whether expressed or implied) and undertakes no liability in respect of the quality of the Rewards or their suitability or fitness for any purpose.

    5.17 Should a Reward arrive damaged or faulty, the Customer may notify the Bank at the Helpline number as specified from time to time no later that two (2) days from the date of his/her receipt of the Reward giving full details as shall be requested by the Bank. The Bank shall use its best endeavors to convey the Cardholder’s complaint to the supplier of the Reward and arrange for a replacement thereof, if possible. Notwithstanding the foregoing, the Bank shall not be held responsible in any way whatsoever for any damaged or defective Rewards.

    5.18 The redemption confirmation letter for Rewards items, which have to be picked up from merchants, will be sent to the Cardholder within ten (10) working days from the date the Bank approves the redemption request. Such letter shall authorize the Customer to pick up the Rewards item from the relevant merchant.

    5.19 Redemption orders once submitted to the Bank cannot be cancelled, revoked or changed.

    5.20 Vouchers issued under the Plus Points Programme, are not exchangeable, refundable, or redeemable for cash or credit under any circumstances. Such Vouchers are not replaceable in the event of loss or destruction after being issued and are subject to such terms and conditions as may be prescribed by the issuer of the same.

    5.21 Details of specific rewards are set out in the Plus Points Brochure which is subject to change from time to time as may be determined by the Bank without prior notice to the Cardholder. All Reward selections are non-returnable. When deemed necessary by the Bank and/or merchant partners of the Plus Points Programme, they may make similar substitution without advance notice to the Cardholder. The Plus Points offers are void where prohibited by law.

    5.22 Every effort has been made to ensure that the information contained in the Plus Points Brochure, which may be dispatched to the Cardholder from time to time, is accurate. The Bank is not responsible for any errors or omissions, which may appear on the Plus Points Brochure.
     
  6. General
    6.1 The Bank reserves the right to disqualify any Cardholder from further participation in the Plus Points Programme, if in the Bank’s sole judgment, that Cardholder has in any way violated these terms and conditions and/or the terms & conditions of his/her Emirates Bank Card Agreement. Suspension and disqualification may result, at the Bank’s sole discretion, to the cancellation and nullification of all Plus Points earned by the Cardholder.

    6.2 The Bank is entitled, at any time and without any prior notice or liability to the Cardholder in any manner whatsoever, to terminate the Plus Points Programme and/or cancel and/or vary its benefits or features, and/or vary, add to or delete any of the terms and conditions outlined herein, and/or withdraw or change the participants of the Plus Points Programme, and/or modify or limit the value of Plus Points and/or the manner of their redemption even though any of such acts may diminish the value of the Plus Points already accumulated.

    6.3 Fraud and abuse relating to earning and redemption of Plus Points will result in forfeiture of the Plus Points as well as termination of the Card.

    6.4 Information supplied by a Cardholder on redemption of rewards may be used by the Bank for administrative and/or marketing purposes.

    6.5 The Program does not in any way amend the Emirates Bank Card Terms and Conditions between the Bank and the Cardholder, and any term referenced but not defined herein may be interpreted in accordance with the said Terms and Conditions.

    6.6 The Bank acts in good faith in response to any oral or electronic instruction or inquiry by the Cardholder in respect of any matter in relation to this Program and fulfillment of any reward. The Cardholder will not be entitled to claim or allege any loss, damage, liability, expense etc. attributable directly or indirectly to any such good faith action of the Bank and the Cardholder shall indemnify and hold the Bank harmless in respect thereof.
